Natal's hardware ties a players body to an in game skeleton. It tracks each piece of the body and calculates positions of various key points which can then be used for in game data.

If you want to track player1's hand for ex, I'd assume it would be as easy as doing:

player1.getLeftHand.getPos();

As Natal's onboard hardware and software are already doing the calculations for skinning the players' bodies to the skeletons it makes, the programming is actual...

It's a great deal and selling respectively, but it's still got a long ways to go before getting close to dominant market share.

That said, TGS should be interesting this year to see how M$ and Nintendo try to counter Sony's momentum. I bet M$ will drop the price after ODST comes out because they don't want to lose money on the console sales it would generate at launch.

The movie was great, but a game would absolutely suck.

All but the last action scene were under 5 minutes, and there were only really 10 of them.

-bar fight (how would you do this in a game
- post bar fight toilet jump (literally just jumping off a roof with a toilet. Might be fun for the whole 4 seconds you're falling)
- first hit on the russians
- Hit in the strip club (nobody even shoots back)
- Diner shootout (nobody shoots back and lasts ...

wtf? your logic is idiotic.

having a product with a very public high failure rate = more demand? are you high?

It's not damage control at all.

6130d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

You think if RROD never happened and the 360 had a normal failure rate, their sales wouldn't be higher. 360 sales were hurt a lot more by RROD than they were helped.

6131d ago 0 agree7 disagreeView comment

they never said they sold 11 million.

Let's say european sales are e and others are x.

M$ says they sold 9 million in europe, so:

Me = 9m

They also say that they are outselling in europe by 1 million, so:
Pe = ~8m

Then sony says they are selling 10m in PAL (Pe+Px), so:
Pe+Px = 8m+Px = 10m

Using those 3 equations and only those 3 equations and find a fallacy. I dare you.

You simply cannot wit...

Good post. A lot of people overlook the fact that it is a better option for publishers. Regardless of whether they care about the consumer or not, they're still going to try to make the most money possible, and used game sales hurt their profits.

It's in gamestops best interest to help publishers if they want to keep them from switching their distribution method.

If you think about it, the less money publisher's make, the more games will have to cost to make up the p...

2,000 people attacking EA like blind enraged zealots will really get them to come out about it.

The worst it will do is get them to hire more forum moderators or start IP banning people that are turning their community into a crap heap.

It doesn't need to be a slim. They just need something to distance newer 360s from launch models that were prone to high failure rates.

The newer boards are exponentially better than the launch models, but a lot of people are still cautious because there's no visual symbol saying "hay... don't worry, I'm redesigned and not as bad."

are you two gonna start making out soon?

should we turn around? give you some privacy?

Valhalla I read was supposed to be dropping late 2009 or 2010.

Opus I think is already out.

6141d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Obviously 1 is just a 360 photoshopped slimmer.

The 360 should get a redesign anyway to get away from the RROD stigma of launch 360s. The current 360's are actually at a manageable failure rate comparable to other electronics, and M$ would sell a lot more if they could get away from the reliability issue in any way.

And they don't need to accommodate previous hard drives. They just need to release the slims with enough space to store data up to the max HD size, then ...

They are in the article. and they overestimated on both sides. Nobody smart will pay $50 for live when you can get 13 months for 30-35 or less if you get a great sale.

I'd say the Slim PS3 is a better value right now, but I'd anticipate another price drop/new version of the 360 before Xmas to take the wind out of sony's sales for the holidays.

That or they'll just add value.

WOULD THEY JUST DROP THE FLIPPIN ARCADE ALREADY.

It's not an RROD article. It's an RROD article article.

The read speeds are literally incomparable to any optical media if they designed a memory type for gaming as opposed to being designed primarily for pictures and music.

The read write issue is only really an issue on read/writable media. If someone figures out some sort of static solid state low cost media, it would be by far the better option.

Devs ask for more space, so they get more space. Then they're stuck with more space and lower search/read times that hold back their use of that space.

They only have so much money to make their content with, so the amount of content they can fit in budget is pretty fixed. The only way to use more space then would be to up the quality of the content, but they're hampered by the read time and the other hardware in that regard.

if the PS3 had a faster drive then it would make a difference.

The slow search times on the blu-ray drive hamper it's usefulness currently.

Do agree we should revert to some sort of cartridge type system though.

The forbes article never said that. It said it has less mature motion controls (than the Wii) and less mature online (than the 360).

The stock went down because sony just announced a huge price cut when they promised they were going to be concentrating on profits. I'd be upset if I were a stock holder too.

@information minister

no it hasn't. It's been bouncing around +/- 2 % for the past few weeks.
